Nerd Alert

I have a confession to make.

I am an anime whore.

There, I said it. I love anime. Always have, hopefully always will. (Included in that, of course, is manga, because the manga is always, ALWAYS better.) There’s just something about it that I can’t get enough of. I’m thinking it’s the crazy humor, but it could be the chibis, too. The Japanese have an undeniable obsession with complete humiliation. Anyways, as a continuation of that statement, I love “Trinity Blood.” If you don’t know what I’m talking about, shame on you. Netflix it, google it, something! The manga is addicting.

I have more than one reason to love this show, I promise. It’s not just because the main character is beautiful. (As a bookworm, I do still reserve the right to fall in love with fictional characters. The husband’s got WoW. I demand my rights.) It’s not because it has vampires that could give The Vampire Diaries a run for its money, and y’all know how much I love me some Damon. No, its not even because its at the Vatican. My reasons are much deeper than that. …Sort of…

It’s because I stole Abel Nightroad.

Well, not literally. I just kinda…modified him. Ok, so my reasons for loving the manga are COMPLETELY shallow. I stole Abel’s face and put it on Rashir’s. (For those of you who haven’t met me, or don’t know of my WIP, Rashir is my god of all things yummy, in a totally G-rated way.) It just fit so well! For over a year, I’ve been struggling to write his character for lack of a face. Do you know how hard it is to write when one of your characters is a continual fuzz-ball? It’s hard. Trust me. But he is fuzzy no longer! Finally I am free to write and dream and do all the other crazy things associated with my writing, all thanks to the infamous Erica Massey. Since my drawing skills died out long ago, she put pen to paper (or rather, that stylus thingy to the photoshop mahoogy) and created him. 🙂 I’d put up a picture of our book-child, but that might be scandelous, so you’ll have to be content with the nerdy amazingness of my dear Abel. (Yes, I am dying a little inside at just what y’all will think… Deep breaths…in and out…Must…be…brave.)

Look on him and love. And then go read the manga. And then, my book. Cheers!

About S. G. Ricketts

I am a dreamer. This page holds all of the dreams and desires and hopes and wishes of the first of my two dreams: to share my imagination with the world. For those of you who have read a book or written a book, these stories are not merely words on a page. They are living, breathing creatures, worlds so compellingly real that you can smell the sweat and feel the rain. This is what I want to share ...with all of you. Yes, becoming rich and famous would be fabulous. I won't deny that. However, it would be so much more satisfying to see my book in the hands of someone on the bus, hear my book talked about at a restaurant, see a cluster of fan-art. I want to inspire the mind to imagine different worlds and different situations. If I can achieve that, I will have achieved my dream.

  1. You are such a nerd! And too funny!

    • Haha, I heartily agree. I may even be in the dork category. Alas, there are many things I’ll do to break a writer’s block. This one just happened to be pretty, too. 🙂 You have to admit, for a cartoon, he’s delish.

  2. Patrick Sean Lee

    OMG, lol.
